“If you want one year of prosperity grow grain.
If you want ten years of prosperity grow trees.
If you want one hundred years of prosperity grow people.”
- Chinese proverb
A dear friend of mine, Matthew Brown, called me last week and asked me if I would like to be involved in raising $25,000 to build a school in Vietnam. I get a lot of requests from people wanting me to donate to their charity, but something about this one caught my attention.
The charity is run my John Wood, former marketing director at Microsoft. John went trekking in Nepal, and discovered a school with 150 students with a library that had no books. It touched his heart so much that he dedicated his life to bringing literacy to underprivileged countries and started a charity called Room To Read.
Watch John’s moving story below:
My dear friend Matthew Brown has a mission to raise $25000 to build a school through Room To Read. I just donated $1700 and we need more donations to build the school.
If you appreciate the value of your own education and you want to give back, why not join us. Each donor will have his name in the door of the school and Matthew is planning a trip to Vietnam for the top 10 donors so we can see our school when it is complete.
